Blowing a Horn

I happened across a merchant at the 2005 Nebraska Renaissance Faire selling natural drinking and blowing horns. As gross as this may seem to us vegetarians, imagine a bovine horn hollowed out, polished and fitted with a mouthpiece so that it can be tooted like a trumpet.

The merchant was willing to let folks try out his wares, as well as offer demonstrations and even lessons on the spot. Listen as he instructs a young boy on the fine art of horn blowing. You’ll also hear a nearby musician answering the horn’s call with a blast from his own trombone.

Listen to the MP3.

Note that my microphone cable malfunctioned this day causing the recording to be monophonic.
